Sunshine Coast Races Today

sunshine coast races today

The Sunshine Coast Racecourse, approximately an hour’s drive north of Brisbane, hosts various racing events year-round including the Caloundra Cup and Glasshouse Handicap races. It has wide tracks with long 400m straights and open angled bends.

Cushion Track is used during Friday evening meetings during summer to reduce damage to tendons and ligaments, offering unique racing experience in Australia.

Caloundra Cup Carnival

Caloundra Cup Carnival provides an exciting finale to Sunshine Coast Racecourse’s Queensland Winter Racing Carnival. Listed at $300,000.000 this year’s event includes Group 3 Winx Guineas and Listed Glasshouse Handicap races as well.

Champion mare Winx delivered an unforgettable performance in 2015’s Winx Guineas race, prompting its renaming after her. Now known as the Winx Guineas, this highly prestigious event draws quality winter stayers and marks the final Group race of Queensland winter carnival.

Caloundra Cup preparation begins early at Eagle Farm with races like the Gr3 Gunsynd Classic or Daybreak Lover Stakes; Stockman (2021) and Supply And Demand (2017) were two recent three-year-olds who completed both legs of this winter double: Caloundra Cup/Grafton Cup double.

Early nominations for the 2022 Caloundra Cup close on Monday before its run on Saturday; final acceptances reveal its field on Wednesday prior. Punters can view both full fields and pre-betting markets here.

Caloundra Cup Day

The Caloundra Cup, held at the conclusion of Queensland Winter Racing Carnival and offering $300,000.000 in prize money. It serves as the highlight on a 9-race card including Coastal Vehicle Solutions Caloundra Cup, Group 3 Winx Guineas and Listed Glasshouse Handicap races.

Recent winners include Stockman (2021), Supply And Demand (2017), Index Linked (2015) and Ironstein (2010) from both Queensland-trained horses as well as interstate raiders.

Punters will likely back Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Le Don De Vie as the 2023 Caloundra Cup favourite after she impressed punters at last weekend’s Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup at Eagle Farm. Early betting markets indicate this could be the favorite.

The Sunshine Coast Turf Club can be found at 170 Pierce Avenue in Meridan Plains – 80km north of Brisbane CBD. Although parking at the track is plentiful, on feature days it may become full early so guests are advised to use public transport when possible.

The Listed Caloundra Cup will take place at Sunshine Coast Racecourse on Saturday 1st July 2023 and here you will be able to view all the latest betting markets and tips for this race, along with links to online formguides, horse ratings and scratchings for this race.

Corbould Park

Corbould Park, home of Sunshine Coast Turf Club, was constructed for their inaugural race meet in July 1985 and continues to host regular meets today. It features both turf and synthetic surfaces; their latter called “Cushion Track”, is unique construction found throughout Australia designed to drain quickly avoiding washes or damage while at the same time offering minimal impact to horse tendons and ligaments.

Meridan Plains Race Track is located at 170 Pierce Ave in Meridan Plains and approximately an hour drive north of Brisbane CBD. Parking on course during race days may fill quickly so visitors may prefer taking public transport instead. Cash only facilities are provided at admission gates with EFTPOS not being available inside the track itself; Suncoast Cab users can gain free entry by showing their receipt as proof.
